Having traveled the world, Selar\u00f3n\u00a0moved to Rio in 1983, in a tiny house just in front of the desolate stairway connecting the areas of Lapa and Santa Teresa. <strong>215 steps<\/strong> that he entirely <strong>covered with majolica<\/strong>\u00a0collected\u00a0in urban areas of Rio or <strong>donated by visitors<\/strong> from all around the world. Since 1990,\u00a0Selar\u00f3n has laid\u00a0over 2000 tiles, mainly red-colored: unique pieces representing a\u00a0&#8220;tribute to the Brazilian people&#8221;. He also planted greenery and never finished to embellish the\u00a0stairway. If you come here in the morning and you will probably see him, at work as usual. If you want, <strong>bring your own tile<\/strong> and he will add it to his work*.<\/p>\n<p>Nowadays\u00a0<strong>Selar\u00f3n\u2019s Staircase<\/strong> (<em>Escadaria Selar\u00f3n<\/em>) is a famous place in Rio, set of international spots and videoclips.
