This is the slogan of <em>Pedra do Sal<\/em> (Rock of Salt), not only a place to listen to live samba, but a real <strong>historic and religious site<\/strong> for cariocas.<\/p>\n<p>Located in the neighborhood of Sa\u00fade,at the time of slavery <em>Pedra do Sal<\/em> was the center of the most important\u00a0<em>quilombo<\/em> village (African community) of Rio de Janeiro. Called <strong>Little Africa<\/strong>\u00a0and populated by immigrants from the northern state of Bahia, it has been the cradle of <a title=\"Samba\" href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20140319030614\/http:\/\/www.rioloft.com\/rio-guide\/carnival\/samba\/\">samba music<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Today the place\u00a0hosts regular\u00a0<strong><i>samba da roda<\/i>\u00a0sessions<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>every Monday<\/strong> (the roda is canceled only in case of strong rain). On the steps of the <em>Pedra<\/em> you will find a casual and easygoing atmosphere; the access is free -you only need to find your little space and to participate to the roda, al least clapping your hands.
